Dennis Stover, CSA
Dennis Stover, CSA, FAST, CSA is the Founder and President of Meridian Institute
of Surgical Assisting. Dennis began his medical career as an Emergency Medical
Technician, graduating from the Academy of Health Sciences at Ft. Sam Houston in
San Antonio Texas, and then entered the operating room theater via the Surgical
Technology Program at Ft. Sam Houston. Dennis has been a surgical assistant for
26 years.
In addition to his responsibilities with Meridian, he serves as a Commissioner for
the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). He was one of the
Charter Members of the Association of Surgical Assistants (ASA), and served as
President for the past 5 years. During his time as ASA President, he was deeply
involved with, and led Surgical Assistant legislative efforts. As a Certified Surgical
Assistant and member of the NSAA, he coordinated these efforts with the NSAA
enabling the CSA and the CSFA credential as the only surgical assisting credentials
recognized in all states that regulate the profession.
Currently, Dennis serves as ASA’s Liaison to the Association of Surgical
Technologists. Additionally, he serves as a legal expert witness, a consultant on
Surgical Assisting education, a legislative advisor, and continues to lead Meridian
Institute, the largest online Surgical First Assistant program in the country and
accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP).
